We see it all the time. The perfect image of breastfeeding- portrayed by the media- is often times a well-groomed woman with an angelic smile on her face as she peacefully sits there nursing her calm, beautiful newborn.

It’s no surprise that women think breastfeeding comes this easy and natural for everyone. Of course, with practice and time we’ll all get there but don’t put don’t put unrealistic expectations on yourself right away. The first month or two can be a challenge as far as setting aside time for yourself in between the baby’s hectic schedule.

Here’s a sample feeding table:

7:00 a.m.            Feed pumped breast milk and change diaper.

8:00 a.m.            Put baby to breast for 15 mins.

9:45 a.m.            Feed baby pumped breast milk. Baby sleeps for 2 hrs.

11:45 a.m.          Pump breast milk for 15 mins.

12:15 p.m.          Feed baby pumped breast milk, change diaper, burp baby. Baby sleep for 1.5 hrs.

1:00 p.m.                                                                                                                                                   *Sleep for 1 hour, eat lunch.

2:40 p.m.           Pump breast milk for 15 mins.

3:15 p.m.            Feed baby pumped breast milk, change diaper. Baby sleeps for 2 hrs.       *Sleep.

6:15 p.m.            Feed baby pumped breast milk, change diaper. Baby sleeps for 1 hr.          *Eat dinner.

7:40 p.m.           Pump breast milk for 15 mins.

9:00 p.m.          Give baby a sponge bath.

9:50 p.m.           Feed baby pumped breast milk, change diaper. Baby sleeps.                          *Pump milk. Sleep.

12:30 a.m.         Feed baby pumped breast milk, change diaper. Baby sleeps.                          *Sleep.

1:15 a.m.            Pump breast milk for 15 mins.

4:00 a.m.           Feed baby pumped breast milk, change diaper. Baby sleeps.                          *Sleep.

4:55 a.m.           Pump breast milk for 15 mins.

6:50 a.m.          Feed baby pumped breast milk, change diaper. Baby sleeps.
